Re: What's the last cd you bought?
I bought "Paranoid" from Black Sabbath about a month ago. At the same time I bought a Keith Urban "hits" CD. I'm not into country. I'm a pop-fan first and foremost, and I also appreciate "classic" rock and 70's and 80's metal. But IMO, some of the "country" artists (like Keith and Taylor) fit into the pop-category. After hearing a few of his songs from the CD, I decided I liked it enough to buy it.

Paranoid... that's old school. Big Sabbath fan here.
Dio dying really sucks.

Re: What's the last cd you bought?
The first ever Black Sabbath song that I remember liking was "Heaven And Hell". I was 11 when it came out. At that time my interest in music (specifically radio) was exploding and I just took it all in. It was also at that time that I decided that I liked "pop music" (ie Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, the Go-Go's, Pat Benatar etc) most of all. Even though I knew about the metal bands at the time, they just weren't my "thing". I did respect some of course, I just never listened to them. But as I got older (mid 80's) I got more into the "heavy" stuff like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and stuff like that. But I still loved my Go-Go's & Madonna (and stuff like that) the most. Anyway I guess liking a certain kind of music is a "school" thing and that being a long time ago now, I've decided there's really only two categories of music that matter: good and bad. And let's face it, most of what's "popular" nowadays, I can't stand. But I absolutely love Miley's stuff. Hell, I was listening to the same kind of music she does now fifteen years before she was born. She's fun.
And I posted a message in SP yesterday in the Ronnie James Dio thread. I had to pay my respect. And then later on I listened to some of "The Dio Years", which I also have.

I saw Sabbath with Dio in 1980 on the Heaven and Hell tour. I was 17 and a month away from starting my senior year.
Yeah, i have a wide variety of musical tastes. I like soft rock, hard rock, metal, death metal, country (George Strait) and a bit of jazzy stuff. Not a fan of the blues though. Dunno why.
I'm gonna post all the concerts i've been to in my lifetime here in a few. It'll bring back memories for some, i'm sure. I have every ticket stub for these concerts except for 2.

Today I bought Meatloaf's new album 'Hang Cool Teddy Bear' as a digital download but haven't listened to it yet. Odd title. I'll probably review it when I've given it the once over.
Re: What's the last cd you bought?
Bat out of Hell III is a great album too. That came out 3-4 years ago
Re: What's the last cd you bought?
This is what i'm listening to right now. Pretty good for an old man. It's his latest.

Re: What's the last cd you bought?
I bought Bat Out Of Hell III whenever it came out. It was mainly due to one song on the album - which was actually a cover version. And the ironic thing is that Jim Steinman actually wrote the song years ago and someone else got it and made it a hit. And then Meat Loaf decided to cover it on the BOH III CD - and since I like the song, I bought the CD for Meat's version.

Katie Melua - The House.
Excellent album, a bit of a departure from her earlier three albums. Still a jazzy/easy listening sound but there is also a hint of techno added to some tracks. Sounds really fresh if you like easy listening and the sound has definitely matured with some intelligent lyrics.
And I still haven't listened to the new Meatloaf album!

I bought Miley's new one about three weeks ago. I bought Kylie's new one last week. And I bought the new Sia CD today. She's a little weird but I like her.

Get the cd, Signals, by Rush also. Very good and underrated. It was the one they did after Moving Pictures.

Re: What's the last cd you bought?
He didn't have Signals. It's funny too because a few weeks ago when I got the newest Rush DVD, I got into a discussion with the guy in the music section (a big Rush fan) and I told him I would be interested in hearing more of their stuff, and then he made the comment of, "I'll have to make sure we have some the next time you come in." Anyway, the "next time" was yesterday and when I went into the music section he said that he'd just gotten a bunch of Rush CD's that very day. So I felt obligated to get a few. It's cool to know that someone at the bookstore is looking out for me.TexasBlue wrote:i_luv_miley wrote:Rush - Moving Pictures

Well, you probably know the song, Subdivisions from that disc. It's an ok song but not the best even though the record companies picked it for a single. There's a song at the end called Countdown which is a tribute to the space shuttle. They got to witness the first launch way back when and made that song, complete with sounds from the launch. It's cool as shit.
My faves off that disc are The Analog Kid, Digital Man, The Weapon, Losing It and Countdown
The Weapon is part 2 of The Camera Eye from Moving Pictures.

Rush - A Farewell To Kings - Xaaah-naaah-dooo!
Rush - Permanent Waves
They still didn't have Signals, and I didn't want compilation CD's.

Order it on Amazon or Cd Universe. Or i can load up a torrent for ya. I'd do it in FLAC (no compression).

Re: What's the last cd you bought?
The bookstore (Barnes & Noble) still has Presto, Hemispheres and Snakes & Arrows and I'll most likely get those from them. As for the others, I'll just order those from Amazon at some point. Beyond that, I just have to figure out how many other albums they actually have. I'm guessing around 25.

Re: What's the last cd you bought?
I think I'm most curious to hear Test For Echoes and Vapor Trails. Neil's book obviously has a lot to do with that. After reading it, and being blown away by what he had to say, I'd like to have more - and by that of course, I mean the lyrics in the songs. But yeah, I'll take anything at this point.
Except that By-Tor & The Snow Dog song, of course. I mean, who comes up with stuff like that?
