Christians should be upset about Xmas also...
Why are atheists always upset during the Christmas holiday period? It would seem to me that Christians should be upset also...or maybe alone!
These atheists get bugged because they see Santa and other decorations around town, but as best I can remember there is NO mention of a fat guy in a red suit during the Biblical nativity story. It was Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh and not Gold, Frankincense, Myrrh, and a remote controlled pickup truck that needs batteries.
Anything other than the nativity scene is not Biblical . There's no guy in a red outfit, no reindeer, no tree...

I never heard of an atheist not enjoying Xmas... with or without Santa.

Well I am an atheist, I've never heard of one of us feeling repressed at seeing reindeer.
The thing about Christmas is that it is made up of so many traditions, mostly pagan, that has been rubber stamped (plagiarised) with a Christian meaning. At its core, it is still the pagan celebration of the end of the year. Most of our modern traditions are far older than Christianity which amuses me when every year when some pompous pious arse whines about how it has become too material, too commercial or people have forgotten the original meaning.
The original meaning is decorations, and trees, and food and drink.

I couldn't even add any more information to this if I tried. Matt is absolutely right.

I am going to have to second Bubbles assessment.
You are absolutely right Matt. In fact, this can be said of the timing of most (if not all) of the Christian holidays.

And none more so than Easter when the date is calculated as the first Sunday after the first full moon after the equinox.

Almost exactly. I found an interesting site explaining this...
http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/astronomical-information-center/date-easter
Reading this one sees how contrived this date is.
