Rewards?

Post by TheNextPrez2012 on Tue Mar 30, 2010 10:48 am

I don't get the reward system for the afterlife.
A person does good in their life and dies...they go to Heaven and spend the rest of eternity praising God.

Other than going to Heaven instead of Hell, how is that a reward for the "dead" person?

Would you rather burn for eternity with no respite from the pain? Or sit and praise The Man for eternity?

As Mark Twain famously said: Go to heaven for the climate and hell for the company Very Happy

An afterlife of endless worship of a barbaric hypocrite doesn't really fill me with glee.

But what if the religious are actually right? You're in for a miserable eternity if they are, Matt. I'll send ya a few glasses of water now and then. ROFL

And if the Muslims are right, those Christians are just as screwed as I am because the Koran says that all other religions are null and void, scrapped as a bad idea. Islam simply starts all over again. What if we're wrong about Norse religions? For not dying in battle, we won't be going to the Great Mead Hall.

I can never understand why we ought to place more value on one religion than any other as though some are less ridiculous or more reasonable than the others.

That's what gets me about religion. I believe there's a higher power (God) but i don't subscribe to all these religions saying their way is the right way and everything, and everyone else, is wrong. It's like that 'born again' crap. In Lutheranism, you're baptized and good to go after that.
