Produced in a small distillery in Herefordshire, England, Chase Vodka was voted the World's Best at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco 2010.

After going to Russia in 2005, my taste for Vodka slipped as I realised that the mainstream stuff such as Smirnoff was neither as tasty, as crisp or as cheap as even the best Russian Vodkas that I was drinking while out there.

A friend bought me a bottle of Chase for Christmas and it is clearly very high quality. And yes, it does taste that good. I drink it neat or with a slice of lemon.

Still not as good as that stuff you brought back from Russia, imho.

Good post, Matt!
I'm a vodka and tequila kinda guy and there is nothing worse than cheap liquor!
I haven't heard of this brand though. I tried some Polish Vodka a year or so ago, and it was pretty good. It was made in a small distillery in a small polish village, a friend of mine brought it over from there.
So how does this vodka compare to some of the more "luxurious" Vodkas you can get in the supermarket like Absolut or Grey Goose, Matt?

I've never had Absolut and never heard of Grey Goose. Since going to Russia I have drank only Smirnoff Blue and Smirnoff Black. The texture is smooth, rather like Smirnoff Blue with a pleasant but strong flavour. According to the Chase website, they are only just breaking into the international markets.

I wish I had kept the label for the Vodka I brought back from Russia because I'd like to track it down and see if I can get it from a specialist here. All I remember is that the label was black and gold in colour and the bottle was triangle shaped.

Hmmm... I appreciate a decent vodka neat (preferably chilled), or a dirty vodka martini... but I've only had Smirnoff, Absolute, Skyy, Stolichnaya, Ketel One, Belvedere and Grey Goose. How would you describe the character of Chase?

The texture is smooth (like Smirnoff Blue), almost silky with a strong yet pleasant taste. At £40 a bottle it is definitely a special occasion drink.
