Bioshock 2 and Lost Creators Team Up For Star Trek Video Game

Kirk, Spock and McCoy will be boldly going back into the realms of video gaming thanks to a new Trek title for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

The game is being developed by Digital Extremes (which worked on BioShock 2 and Dark Sector) in collaboration with Lost and Trek movie writers Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman and JJ Abrams’s Bad Robot production company. It’s not actually based on the movie but it will be set in the same universe. The actual script is being written by award-winning God Of War writer Marianne Krawczyk.

Players are out in control of Kirk and Spock as they attempt to stop an alien race from conquering the galaxy. Just another average day in Star Fleet then.

“Star Trek challenges the boundaries of co-op gameplay with a galactic adventure that gamers and fans have never experienced,” said Tom Lesinski, President of Paramount Digital Entertainment. “Working closely with the Star Trek filmmaking team throughout development, the game is sure to deliver triple-A production values, a wide variety of gameplay and all the action you would expect from the hit franchise. This will be the definitive Star Trek gaming experience.”

About 15 years ago, there was a couple of Trek games. DS9 "Harbinger" which was an interesting but slow-paced mystery-adventure type game. Even better but sadly lacking in re-palyability was TNG: A Final Unity. To date, they are the only ST games I have played though I was tempted to buy the "Armada" and "Starfleet Command" strategy games.

Its an MMORPG. I haven't even begun to dabble in online gaming yet. Personally, I can't see the appeal yet.

And nope, I haven't played it. I saw some stuff on YouTube and it looks like fun. I tried looking for a torrent on it and there's nothing. I like to try out games that way. If I don't like it, no money lost. It's how I started with L4D. I liked it so much that I went and bought it.
