The last film I watched was Solomon Kane. It wasn't bad, felt like a lot of missed opportunity, especially at the end that felt like an anti-climax. Too many anachronisms to feel comfortable. I'd recommend it for a no-brainer popcorn film with lots of violence but there are better films like that.

Watched The Godfather Part III last night. Pretty good, but not as good as the first 2.

I'll give it a 4.

Yeah, the 2nd one was good too! I like how it incorporates where Don Corleone came from and how he came to power, etc.
The 3rd one is just plain weird at times. Michael Corleone's daughter is in love with her cousin, Michael's nephew, and it's just a little weird and awkward at times...
But still a good movie!

Yeah. Well the 2nd one was really well done since it had some parts of the book in it and it jumps back and forth like the book does. BUt the 3rd one was just out there to say the least....

It has Robert DeNiro as young Vito Corleone in little Italy... if that helps at all.

Well I saw Shutter Island yesterday. I'd give it 4.5/5.

Before that I saw Monsters vs Aliens on Friday. Very funny family film with a lot of homages to horror films. Similiar to The Incredibles, it is just as good as the Pixar film.

Another 4.5/5

Watched Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan last night. I own the whole movie sets. I also have the 3 seasons in a box set. I'm a fan of the original series. Not a Trekkie geek but i enjoy them quite a bit.

Yesterday I watch Franklyn. A Film Four produced British arthouse film following several different story threads.

The last movie you watched Franklyn_poster

* Eva Green plays 'Emilia' a performance artist in modern day London whose art project is to commit suicide every month but to call the emergency services in time to ensure that she survives. She records each of the proceedings.

* Bernard Hill plays 'Peter Esser' a man looking for his son who has gone missing from a secure hospital. He travels to London to find some of his son's acquaintances from the army days (he was in hospital after PTSD)

* Sam Riley plays 'Milo' who, after being jilted at the altar, re-encounters a childhood friend.

* Ryan Phillippe plays 'Jonathan Preest' in a futuristic dystopia, the only atheist in a city where religion is proscribed by law. He sets out to kill a man he believes sacrificed a young girl in the name of his religion.

This is a clever arthouse film and though you expect a twist is coming, it is not really surprising when it does come and in some ways changes the dynamic of the film from one of a mystery to psychological drama. An interesting, thoughtful film if you like that sort of thing.

Watched Driving Miss Daisy the other night. One of my favorites. Gives one a real inside look at racism from the late 40s to the mid-60s. It does it in a subtle way.

Sorry Tex, I like deep films with a message but that film was saccharine drenched and dull as sh!t. But then I guess I am not American and didn't live through the era, I might have appreciated it a bit more if I could relate to either of those things.

Probably so. It's a cultural thing, too. Americans can appreciate it more. Plus, i like Morgan Freeman. I have a few of his films. He's one of the best out there.

I watched Dead Poets Society a few nights ago. I've seen it a few times but it's been many years. This time it was pretty much how I remember it, but some of the "little" things made a lot more sense and I think I was able to "get it" on a much deeper level. And Robin Williams is awesome. The last movie you watched Icon_cheers I've never seen anything of his that isn't great.

We saw Inception at the cinema on Wednesday, fabulous film, beautiful, clever, very intelligent - took a lot of concentration and didn't spoon feed the audience. Best film I've seen at the cinema in a long time. Might just end up being one of my favourites. Go see it, go now, run!

Watched The Wolfman last weekend. Good movie, but not great. I rented Shutter Island also but it wouldn't play in my dvd player. My player is 10 years old. There was some code that came up. I Googled it and found that it was a sign of a dirty disc or just the player getting ready to take a shit.
