Test Your Political Stand
Just a short set of questions (pretty accurate results BTW) to see where you fall politically;

Here are my results:

Re: Test Your Political Stand
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 80%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 90%.
According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is...
Libertarian
LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

I moved this to the Politics section, Guido. I think it's better suited here than in Chatter. Hope that's alright by you.

NP. I wasn't real sure where to put it, as it's not a direct political post.
Re: Test Your Political Stand
Yeah, i figured that it would turn political in due time, so i put it here.

You far, far-right, right wing conservative, you!

You know, it just occurred to me that none of our liberal friends in here even bothered with this test.

Yeah... who woulda thought. Honestly, I was quite surprised at the outcome. I mean, I know I tend to lean libertarian more than conservative - though I use conservative as a self-descriptor - but that test pegged as unadulterated libertarian. I think it might lack some nuance when it comes to pigeon-holing political leanings.

Hmmm... wonder why that is?

We're just giving you liberals a hard time. Don't go postal on me now.

Re: Test Your Political Stand
It's funny that we don't get a little more love from liberals than we do. After all, according to the test, we agree with them on at least half of their positions...

That is true when one thinks about it. Many positions in the Libertarian Party platform can appeal to liberals. Not far left types, but the average liberal. Where we all disagree is on taxes and size of gov't. The size of gov't debate branches out into many other realms... making it an almost endless potpourri of debate.

Re: Test Your Political Stand
Well it is true that what we are calling "far left" liberals, are not in fact liberals at all but rather "statists."
And libertarians are diametrically opposed to statists on every single issue.

That's why i really wish our friends in here would run thru this real quick. It doesn't have many questions either. I seriously answered everything as honestly as i could. You're even more Libertarian than i am. I have a couple issues that fall into the limbo category, i guess.

Re: Test Your Political Stand
Truthfully, I just couldn't honestly disagree with any of the 10 positions. That being said, there is a lot that is not on the test. But those that are on there I would wholeheartedly support.

Re: Test Your Political Stand
There was another test that was far more interesting. It had lots of different points to vote on. But sometimes, less is more.

Re: Test Your Political Stand
Clearly you've not seen any of my posts... I obviously belong in the "more is more" camp...

Re: Test Your Political Stand
Yeah, I have to say that I do lean more libertarian than conservative. Though there are positions that the libertarian party takes that I do not agree with... this would be primarily in the area of national defense.

The other area is their immigrations stance. Open borders. There's things like that which runs others off. Shhhh. I shouldn't have said that. Now every open border nut is going to join the LP.

Yeah, this is the whole problem with the Libertarian Party. They don't how to make reasonable compromises. It makes them look loony and completely off their rockers. It's so sad really, there is so much about libertarianism that I genuinely like.
You know I was a member of the Libertarian Party back in the 80's. But I got so sick of their constant warfare within the party, and their inability to pour piss out of a boot, even with the instructions written on the heel, that I just dropped out. I think the party is still too dysfunctional to make even the slightest impact on national politics. I would love it if that would change, but I don't see it moving in that direction in the near or even distant future. Too bad really.
