FORD = Found On Road Dead?
Cute video... though a little dated.
I like some Ford products. My first car was a 1968 Ford Fairlane 500 2-dr with a 289cid V8. I took the three speed off the column, cut a hole in the floor is slipped in Fenton 500 Slideshift. I used to eat Chevy Novas for laughs... until my youth outlasted the age of my machine.
I still miss that car.
Also had a 1970 Mercury Montego... with one of those odd grill assemblies and a 302cid that replaced the 289.
Later, I restored a 1961 Mercury Comet S22 Sport.
Later still, I restored a 1965 F-100... unfortunately, Bambi murdered that one on a cold December night in 1995.

I have a 99 ford taurus, my grandfather gave it to me in 04 after he couldn't drive anymore, and this years was the first time it didn't pass inspection. I'd rather have Trans Am though. lol.

Holy crap! My 3rd car was a 67 Ford Fairlane 500 4-door with the 289cid V8 and an automatic tranny, plus it had an after-market AC kit installed.
As I recall, I had to replace a starer on it, broke the rear leaf springs a couple of times and I had the drive shaft fall off at the front (from the tranny) as I was going over some railroad tracks which lifted the rear of the car into the air and destroyed the rear end - that was the priciest repair job I had done it. It met its end when some jerk made a left hand turn in an intersection as I entered it.

In this case, a little age is a really good thing.
They don't make cars with personality anymore. I also like a machine I can tune-up with a screwdriver, a cheap set of standard wrenches and a pack of matches like they used to give us in a C-Rations box. We used to be able to install our own radios and sound systems... replace an entire tail light assembly for less than what it costs today just for the bulb.
I dunno... I think age (in most respects... not all) is a good thing and the 21st century is a pain, lol.

I'm a big fan of the muscle cars from the 60s and 70s, I prefer those to the cars of today. They were more simple too.

Yeah, the cars of today are good and powerful but they cost a years wages to fix compared to 1970.

My first car was a 1970 Chevy Malibu. I bought it in 1979 for $300.

You are the only person here, save myself of course, who remembers c-rats... I still have my P-38 in my emergency backpack.

Ah... I didn't know they hung around that long.
Did they transition from c-rats straight to MRE's, or was there something in between?

I don't know. Here....... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meal,_Ready-to-Eat
According to that, they were implemented in 1981. I never saw one at all during my time in.

That's because the Army was attempting to get rid of existing stocks of c-rats.
And the c-rats we used, I have now learned were possibly the next generation call MCI (Meal Combat Individual), though they were so similar everyone contined to call them C-rats.
See here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_ration

They all suck. I tried MRE's once with a friend who was still in.

Oh yeah... no question about that! But apparently the worst were the short-lived K-rations of WWII.
