"War on terror" comment
During a speech Obama said "As a country, we will never tolerate our security being threatened, nor stand idle when our people have been killed"
My complaint is that those words can be said by any country. So why is it we feel it only applies to Americans or at the very least western cultures?
The leader of the Taliban could very well use the same words as he describes the feeling of watching his region get invaded by foreign troops.

True. But he was right in what he said. It just needs to be said. It can apply to any country and they're within their rights.
The Taliban isn't a country nor is it an elected entity.

Just to add to Tex's observation (the Taliban are not a country or an elected body), it was the Taliban that permitted bin Laden to operate in Afghanistan when the country was under their rule. They sanctioned bin Laden's terrorist acts just by harboring and protecting him. They were given a chance to surrender bin Laden after the events of 9/11. They refused. Thus they have no standing to utter those words. They sanctioned violence against their own people, and finally against America. It's not like we just swept into Afghanistan on a whim after all.
