One of the most shameful spectacles of Obama’s first term in office is watching his party lecture about fiscal responsibility even as they refused to pass a budget. Even when Democrats had a super-majority in Congress they refused to pass a budget in 2010 because doing so would have been politically inconvenient for them during an election year.
But, according to Senator Dick Durbin, this lack of a budget since 2009 wasn’t the fault of the liberals. No, it was those evil Republicans filibustering that caused the problem.
First, note that under the leadership of then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a Democrat majority in the House, where per the Constitution budgets are supposed to originate, the liberals didn’t pass a budget in 2010.
Second, note also that budgets cannot be filibustered in the Senate by law. Remember all that talk about “budget reconciliation” back when the nation was debating Obamacare? Then Democrats wanted to use legislation that was intended to bypass the filibuster for budgets to pass the effective nationalization of health insurance in America. Reconciliation allows the majority party in the Senate to bring a budget resolution to the floor at any time and pass it with a simple majority vote. Democrats have had the majority in the Senate since 2007.
But now, when trying to spin the fact that they haven’t been budgeting, Democrats pretend like the reconciliation process doesn’t exist.
And third, per a press release from Senator Jeff Sessions office, “Senate Democrats have not even written or introduced a budget plan this year, much less passed one out of the Senate.”
Thus what Senator Durbin on Fox News Sunday is what is, bluntly, called a “lie.” Democrats haven’t failed to pass a budget because of Republicans. Democrats have failed to pass a budget because they’re afraid their taxing and spending policies, laid bare to the American people in the budget process, would be politically inconvenient.

And the kicker is that you would ONLY hear this on Fox News. The mainstream media will not honestly cover this and would never point out that the Democrats had AMPLE opportunity to pass whatever budget they wanted since the had a majority in the House and a super majority in the Senate!
No wonder Fox News is so hated by the Democrats and the left.

He brought up the interesting point about reconciliation.... which the media was more than happy to talk about during the HC debate. No mention of a lack of a budget to begin with or calling out Durbin as a liar.

Indeed! And the mainstream media defended this contemplated abuse of reconciliation by the Democrats.
Honestly, the mainstream media have so utterly betrayed the American people that I find it hard to even speak of them without cursing a blue streak. It is breathtaking just how dishonest they have been.
