Obama's political punching bag has taken shape in the form of House Minority Leader John Boehner. The result of this match up has been to get down-and-dirty, attacking Boehner on a personal level. That would be because the Democrats don't have any real arguments against Boehner's policy ideas, such as extending all tax cuts for another two years. This past weekend the New York Times took up the fight for Obama against Boehner by running a rather scathing hit piece. Among one of the claims made regularly by Obama and reinforced in the Times article is the idea that John Boehner is in bed with Washington lobbyists. Luckily for us, Tim Carney did a little bit of research and found out that Obama and the Democrats may want to look at themselves in the mirror before spouting off such claims ...

* Nancy Pelosi has raised almost twice as much money from lobbyists this election as Boehner has.

* At least 18 House Democrats have raised more lobbyist cash this election than Boehner has.

* Chuck Schumer and Harry Reid have pocketed more lobbyist cash in the past 18 months than Boehner has raised in the past 6 elections, combined?

I know .. that's politics. But the fact is that this kind of name-calling isn't going to work with the American people. Not this time around. First of all, Americans have to know who it is you are insulting. But then the Democrats have to realize that Americans are tired of this political horsesqueeze and ready to elect people who will support the private sector and allow it to flourish, without the burden of government intervention.

I wanted to point something out here that I think should be known. The New York Times hit piece was not an editorial or opinion piece - it was written by a Times REPORTER... a NEWS reporter. The article appeared on page A1 of the print newspaper on Sept 12th. This is what passes for journalism at the New Your Times (and nearly all major daily newspapers in the country), blatantly biased hit-pieces presented as serious, objective "news."

Thankfully, more and more people are seeing through the sham that is the mainstream media and they are abandoning them by the millions.

New York Times lost credibility with me years ago. The sad part is that many national papers use feeds from them.
