I can do that. Does Bec really want that?

Bec hadn't thought of it, but now you come to mention it, Bec thinks that would be totally cool and promises she will post in such a subforum on a weekly basis (minimum).

I was wondering where this thread went.

I was sort of watching television when the story broke a few days ago. At first I watched for a few minutes, got the facts and then proceeded to watch a DVD. About two hours later when the DVD was finished (at around 3 AM my time), I was back on CNN. When the story was still on televsion, I realized it was much bigger than "usual". Basically I've kept up with it since... I must say, it got strange yesterday when CNN actually quit broadcasting live for several hours... Right before that, they had talked about the "possibility" of a meltdown at one (or more) of the nuclear plants. But for obvious reasons, there were no specifics - and then right after that, CNN started re-showing a broadcast from earlier in the day. It's not like them to do that. So that had me really concerned.

Anyway, as for the earthquake itself, it's sad. Obviously that's an understatement. But I don't really know what else to say?

I wanted social issues to be a separate entity for things like race relations, death penalty or issues of the like.

Current Affairs sounds like a decent name for topics like the Tsunami.

I think a "Current Events" section would be ideal for things like the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
