Big govt. is good Empty Big govt. is good

This whole "big government" issue is a serious waste of time.
While it is true the government is putting itself in the business of others (such as bailouts and takeovers) we must understand that those things must be done due to how society is at this time.

It's the greed and the irresponsible nature of the the corporate world and society in general that has forced govt. to do what they do...and yet I hear nothing from Romney, Bachman, Cain, or any other hopeful about the reason govt. must be involved.
Does pizza boy yell at the companies for screwing up and forcing the govt. to help them? I have not heard much about that, eh?

This is just not true NextPrez. This is the same demagoguery of the private sector that has been being foisted off on the American people since the days the progressive Teddy Roosevelt!

Our problem is not that the "corporate world" or "society in general" is "forcing" the government to do anything!

Rather, our problem is the GOVERNMENT using its power to pick winners and losers in the private sector! This has been a problem since the "trust-busting" days of Teddy, and have been being continued to this day.

This was made exponentially worse by Woodrow Wilson who got the 16th Amendment passed and enacted the person income tax system! Since then the income tax code has been governments most valuable tool for extorting money from businesses via campaign contributions and allowing the government to use the code to, again, pick winners and losers in the private sector.

And while Wilson was extremely bad for America, it was really FDR who put big government and government control over the private sector into a supercharged, nitrous-boosted, overdrive! FDR's programs did what no outside enemy could do to America, they finally began the long slide for individual American's being self sufficient to government dependent. In the process he cemented the Democrats position as the advocates of ever burgeoning government power and size. After FDR, the federal government never looked back. It has spent the last many decades since FDR creating ever more Machiavellian ways of exerting control over the private sector and private citizens!

Even Andrew Jackson, the father of the "spoils system" of government could never have envisioned what our federal government has become!

The Democrats and Progressive Republicans (past and present) have completely destroyed the integrity of our Constitution, given birth to the American entitlement mentality, and destroyed the initiative of countless millions of Americans.

That you would position government as being "forced" to do what they are doing reveals your weakness in American history.

Of course, I can actually hardly blame you for this lack of knowledge, our government schools (K-12) and institutions of higher learning are overrun with textbooks feeding students with textbooks peddling the most abhorrent versions of revisionist history one could possibly imagine! Hence the sterling reputation of one of the most anti-American and destructive Presidents in this nation's history - FDR!

Sorry NextPrez, but I am in the middle of two books on American history from it's inception, and what you write here is just flat out wrong!
