By “it,” I mean the attempt to administer the death of a thousand cuts. Herman Cain, you see, MUST be destroyed. If ever there was a threat to the Democrat Party, that threat manifests itself in the person of Herman Cain.

Now we have this sexual harassment claim against Cain. During my 17 years of practicing law I had more than a few business clients who needed advice and counsel on this issue, so permit me, if you will, to express some thoughts on this issue from a lawyer’s point of view.

I saw some comments on the Internet yesterday saying that if the National Restaurant Association paid any money to the women who complained of sexual harassment that was all the proof we needed that the harassment did, indeed, take place. Sorry .. that’s nowhere near to the truth. The laws and regulations relating to sexual harassment were so vague that a claim could be filed for something so innocuous as a male manager telling a female employee that she looked nice on a particular day. I had one case where a female employee attempted to pursue a sexual harassment case against the owner of a business because he opened a door for her. The woman was days away from being fired for incompetence, and she knew it. Her expectation was that by screaming harassment she could either delay the termination of her employment or perhaps leave the company with a large cash settlement. Trust me .. it didn’t work. Lawyers and women do know, though, that if you file a sexual harassment claim there is a good chance a lawyer might tell the employer it would be a lot cheaper just to pay the woman some money in return for her cleaning out her desk and going away. Is this what happened in the case of Herman Cain? That explanation actually makes sense, considering how expensive a bona-fide sexual harassment case could have been to the NRA. Lawyers don’t readily give up huge contingency paydays.

Here are just a few of the successful sexual harassment complaints I’ve known or read about:

1. A woman working in the front office successfully complains about a man working in the warehouse who had a picture of his girlfriend in a bikini hanging in his locker.

2. Another woman complains that a picture of a man’s wife in a bathing suit on his desk is sexual harassment. He is forced to remove it. Complaining woman looked like an exploded sausage casing.

Let’s add to the information overload here. Here’s a story from New York Magazine titled “Four Reasons Why The Herman Cain Sexual-Harassment Story Will Probably Blow Over – And One Why It Might Not.” Now the author clearly holds Herman Cain in disdain .. but worth the read anyway.

But back to Herman Cain:

The one certain path to doom and defeat for the Democrat Party would be to lose the lock they have on the black vote. Democrats are used to looking at the black vote and saying to themselves “We don’t have to worry about them. Just feed their sense of victimization and continue to support race-based legal and social advantages and they’ll fall into line.”

Well now the Democrats sense a threat to their control of the black vote; and that threat is Herman Cain. Here is a black man with a black dialect who dedicated himself to education and hard work and became successful in the business world without race-based preferences or advantages like affirmative discrimination pushing him along. Herman Cain sends a message to millions of black Americans that the government and the political party to which they have pledged their undying support just may be holding them back from the threshold of true success and self-realization. This is a message that simply cannot be allowed to reach loyal black Democrat voters.

We’re putting together a compilation of the attacks on Cain from the left – from Democrats. You’ve heard some of them … Herman Cain is a self-loathing black man. Herman Cain will do anything to get whites to like him; in other words, he’s a sellout. Racist Republicans only support Herman Cain because it makes them look like they’re not racist … blah blah blah.

We’re putting together a compilation of the attacks on Cain from the left – from Democrats. You’ve heard some of them … Herman Cain is a self-loathing black man. Herman Cain will do anything to get whites to like him; in other words, he’s a sellout. Racist Republicans only support Herman Cain because it makes them look like they’re not racist … blah blah blah.

US Media: No bias here. Move along.

The bias is so pathetically obvious you'd think people would see it without the advantage of people like Boortz, Limbaugh, Hannity and other conservative commentators pointing it out.

And while that is not neccesarily the case, it does seem that they are having some impact since Cain has only been rising in popularity despite this non-stop MSM onslaught.

Screw the MSM!

Yeah, the more they hammer on Cain, the more popular he gets.

It's funny... they recently did it to Perry (he's racist) and have left all the rest of them alone.

This is standard policy... and unfortunately, both sides do it. Cain is just the most recent example.

There was one article I saw... oh, a week or maybe two back, that noted the name, Cain... as in 'Cain' who slew 'Abel' and then that the 9-9-9 plan was 6-6-6 turned upside down. In short, Cain was the anti-Christ.

Okay, there is stupid that exists everywhere. But making more annoying was the number of hits the story apparently got from the Google news aggregation pages. This was easy to see from the sheer number of comments, that all took the already ridiculous and made it worthy of full commitment to an asylum.

Yeah, I know both sides do it (see John Kerry), but this is the standard with the mainstream media in cases like this.

The question I have is why wait till now? Why not when he announced he was running? Wait! Let's do it when he gets legs to stand on!

Yes... both sides do this, but the very BIG difference is that the Democrats have MSM on their side.

The media does not like a black conservative that's for sure. The attacks on Cain are vicious and a lot of it is coming from blacks like Harry Belafonte, and Cornell West. There is a difference on media treatment of certain candidates. You'd be blind not to see that.

You are quite right Mark. We're now on day 5 or 6 of Cain making the evening news on what would have been a one day story, if that, had Cain been a Democrat.

That's why it's meaningless to note that both parties do this, because only one party, the Democrats, always gets maximum mileage out of it from the MSM.
