Why is Newt surging in the polls?

I was an early Newt supporter, but thought he was dead, but I do believe he's the best conservative and easily the smartest guy to debate Obama and is the candidate everyone should get behind if they are a fan of Romney.

Newt is interesting. There's things about him that I find questionable, but he is certainly one who would turn Obama into a babbling drone in any debate.

The musical leaderboard in the GOP primary race seems to be a child of the media. They appear to be toying with the conservative vote, raising one candidate and then the next only to have them torn down in spectacular fashion.

Funny how that is.... while they left Obama alone in 2008. Had they exposed things about him that conservative did, he wouldn't be president now. Hillary probably would be (which is wayyyy better).

I am really surpised how many deep south conservatives feel the same way. They would have invited Hillary over for a cookout if it would have kept Obama out of Washington. This must be taken into context with being the same folks who swore another Clinton whitehouse would inspire them to move to Greenland...

McCain was too much of a loser to hit Obama hard when he had the chance and took the "high road" instead.

The morning talk at the Waffle House says that the GOP is making a halfhearted effort because they don't think it worth wasting a big time candidate over. Like TB says about Palin being beat up, once you run the gauntlet of a campaign, there ain't much left. That's the general trend of conversation I hear. That's also why I think so many (locally) moving to the Libertarians... because they've lost faith in the mainstream right.

TB = Texas Blue
And yes, reference faux pas on my part. My old brain, apologies. You said it
Addendum: I don't multi-task as well as I used to. Splitting my time between talking here, seasoning up the chicken for the grill, feeding the mutt and nursing a beer.

I live in Minnesota. But yeah, southerners would rather deal with Hillary any day of the week.

I think conservatives will come out in droves for whomever gets the nod by August. Many independent voters will also send Obama back to Chicago for good. Don't fall for the hype.

Well, to be honest, I was one of those who took that Greenland oath, lol. But then in 2008, we got together and jumped the Dem primary to vote for Hillary. Huckabee was ahead here locally in the GOP but McCain was going to take the state without question. We figured to mess up the opposition a bit if we could... but Obama won by 2 percentage points anyway, *sigh*

Actually, the biggest reason we were against Obama (besides politics) was a story from a guy named Larry Sinclair...
Unfortunately, most times when I mention this on the web, I get hit with a racism thing... being from the south and all that. Color really had nothing to do with our dislike of this guy, and still doesn't.

It weren't serious. It was a tailgating thing... bunch of rednecks talking politics what had known each other for years.
