The White House signaled Friday that President Barack Obama will take a hard line in ongoing negotiations over a $900 billion-plus catchall spending bill that's needed to keep the government running through next September.

Budget director Jacob Lew told reporters that Republicans are insisting on using the must-pass measure to carry excessive policy provisions on topics like abortion and the environment. He also said that some Republicans are trying to wriggle out of last summer's budget deal, which set spending limits that are too high for most tea party lawmakers.

At issue are nine unfinished spending bills — covering the Pentagon, homeland security, environmental programs, education, foreign aid and a host of other issues — setting the day-to-day operating budgets of federal agencies for the 2012 budget year that began Oct. 1.

Why is it the republicans, whose job in the House it is to get the budget set for the year and approve the monies, as the House controls the purse strings of the government, why is it they can't get together enough to make a budget? who wants a party in power who can't even come up with a budget?

Why is it that the Democrats who control the US Senate haven't passed a budget in 3 years? Even when they had a super-majority of 60 guaranteed votes in Obama's first 2 years in office? Why is it compromise only when it's the Democrats in charge?

Exactly Tex!

It pisses me to no end that when the Democrats are asked to "compromise" and refuse, the media always side with the Dems and portray them taking a "principled stand" or some such crap as that.

But let the Republicans take a stand and the long knives come out and the MSM shred them.

It's absolutelu useless to even read these rags anymore.

In less than 3 years Obama has tacked on more than 5 TRILLION to our national debt!

And rather than advocating SERIOUS cuts to our budget, Democrats and the elitist RINO's are only talking about cuts in the degree to which the budget grows!

Way too many Americans are completely oblivious to the baseline budgeting practiced on the Hill!

Here is what passes for a "cut" in DC, if we reduce the GROWTH of the budget next year from 10% to 7%, then politicians call that a 3% CUT to the budget!

It's insanity!

Have to agree with both of you and Tex, nothing else needs to be said.
