Why have these hearings shown on TV or at all?
When that stupid Sonia chick went through this, they had hearings for days on TV but somebody actually said she's gonna get in anyway.
Why go through all of this if you're gonna put the person in anyway?

Because people have a right to know what's going on there. People have a right to know exactly what Kagan is saying. The media here will cherry pick the most controversial stuff (as usual). This way, one can watch it live and see exactly what is being said instead of telling what the media thinks you need to know.

Plus, you can turn the channel.
