Obama Bringing Us Closer To The Apocalypse

Evangelical Christian minister Tim LaHaye says that the policy initiatives put forth by the Obama administration are bringing the country "closer to the apocalypse."

LaHaye issued the dire warning in an appearance this week on Mike Huckabee's talk show on Fox News.
"Our present president doesn't seem to get it," LaHaye explained. "He doesn't understand that some of the things he's introducing that many of us call 'raw socialism' -- it's a different name, but it's essentially government control and government domination of everything."

The evangelical voice said of the political platform maintained by the Obama administration, "It's going to work against our country and bringing us closer to the apocalypse."

Huckabee went on to prod LaHaye a bit further on his assertion. "Are we now living in the end times, from your perspective?" asked the former Arkansas Governor and possible 2012 White House contender.
LaHaye's response: "Very definitely, governor."

I don't know what's up with the right-wing in America lately. It's like every conservative has suddenly gone off of his or her meds. This one in particular seems as crazy as a rat in a coffee can. We can only hope it's not contagious.

That's a bit unfair. Some right wingers assume that all left wingers are Communists, but that's no reason to do the same back.

Its the Christian neo-cons who were promoted by Dubya that have become louder and louder, but I see no reason to assume that all right wingers are cut from the same mould. Their new hero might stand for Presidential election in 2012. If Sarah Palin ever gets it, they'll have a government full of ignoramus rapture-cultists.

Personally, I agree with alland's comment. The right-wing IMO has gone off their proverbial rocker over the last two years. They've shown it as such time and time again... BUT! That is not to say that every Republican is full of it. I don't believe that any more than I believe that every Democrat is a decent human being. Where I will draw the distinction is to say that I do think all teabaggers are off their rockers. I have no problem saying that. But no, I don't feel the same about all Republicans. Hell, Ben Nelson of Nebraska is an excellent example of someone who is interested only in serving himself and not his constituents. And yes, he's a Democrat. And yes, I think he's full of it. But of course that hardly means that I think that all Democrats are full of it. I just happen to think he is. Another example is Olympia Snowe. I don't agree with a some of her positions, but I most certainly do on others. She's seems quite moderate (and reasonable) to me - and yet, she's a Republican.

Labeling a group of people does the labeler no good. It's like Matt said; one can't label all religious as nutz. One can't label all Dems as socialists/communists. These generalizations fly all around on both sides and i'm tired of it. If you were talking about a KKK rally being off their rockers, there'd be nobody here disagreeing with you. Sure, we can have criticism of policies but i tend to go after those who make policy (the politicians or media talking heads) since they're doing the damage (or good).

What you should do, since you're in a big city, is go to a Tea Party rally some day and see what it's like. I live almost 3 hours from Minneapolis, so i can't just go for shits and giggles. Plus, i'm not interested in them overall since they're not a political party. They're a movement no less than the anti-war movement. When it came to those people, i never criticized them because it's their right to protest (like the TP people). They're not going to affact US policy in anyway. But the anti-war people and the TP people get the attention of those whom they expect to represent.

Painting an ideology by what a preacher says isn't right. There's many conservatives who aren't religious (i'm one of them). There's more of us than you think who could give a rats ass about the gay issue and other traditionally left wing social issues.

Don't you see how you have contradicted yourself there? You shouldn't judge an entire group by a minority. Tex has done it too and I would rebuke him just as readily for doing the same thing (and have done so).
