Re: List Of Concerts I've Been To.........
You got quite the list yerself. Bryan Adams even. That's one guy i wished i could've sen back in his heyday. I have a dvd of him though from a couple years ago. He's still good.
Another i wished i could've seen was Peter Frampton. His last dvd from 2003 or 2004 was pretty killer. He's a better musician than i thought.
Ultimately, i wished i could've seen The Who and Led Zeppelin. Zep was getting ready to tour when Bonham died. I was going to go see that show if it was the last thing i ever did (back then).
I don't go to concerts anymore because they're insanely priced like professional sports are these days. Instead, i buy the dvd if a group puts one out. Plus, the older i get the more i hate fighting crowds.

Re: List Of Concerts I've Been To.........
I forgot to mention that two of those concerts came at the "sacrifice" of two others. When I saw the Thompson Twins in 1984, that only happened because I couldn't get tickets to Van Halen (because they sold out so fast). *** So mom felt sorry for me and said I could pick another concert. It was a choice between the Thompson Twins and Rush. So I picked the Thompson Twins. I'd kind of like that one back. The other "choice" I had to make was when REO Speedwagon came to town in 1985. I became a HUGE REO fan when Hi Infidelity came out and I would have given anything to see them at the time, but when my first chance happened (in 1982) mom said I was too young. The next time they came was in 1985, when I did see them. Unfortunately, just before they came, Iron Maiden came to town and I got tickets. But when REO announced, mom was like, "You ain't going to two, bub." So I ended up selling my Iron Maiden ticket at school to get the money for the REO ticket. In hindsight, I'm okay with that because I LOVED REO, but at the same time I knew Iron Maiden put on a good show.
*** On the day of the Van Halen show, I went to the venue in hopes of scalping one. Obviously I was able to go. And as I said, it cost me all of twenty dollars.
And yeah I agree, DVD's are the way to go now. Britney was the last concert I even attempted to go to. True, when Taylor Swift came here for the rodeo a few months ago, I definitely considered it. But seeing as the tickets were well over a hundred dollars (before scalping), I didn't really pursue it.

Re: List Of Concerts I've Been To.........
There's a few stories behind some of mine, too. Too numerous to mention at the moment. Actually, i'll have to sit and think and put it together.
My country phase was brought on by an ex-girlfriend of mine. It was all she listened to (so i had to). I ended up liking some of it but appeased her by going to some shows i didn't want to. Strait remains a fave of mine to this day.

Re: List Of Concerts I've Been To.........
On a hopefully-related subject, one thing I thought about yesterday after thinking about my concert history as well as the time I've been a music fan in general, I've noticed that music is another topic that can really get me riled up. I've gotten a lot better as I've gotten older - and I'm sure that's normal, but when I was in middle school and then high school, I took a fair amount of (*bleep*) for my music. As I've already said, I've mainly been a pop fan and still am one today, and in school it seemed like only the people who liked "metal" were respected - and as I said, at the time it just wasn't my thing. Of course as I look back on it, I know now it's just a teen peer-pressure thing. But as I was thinking about my concert history, other thoughts came to me (like how I chose the Thompson Twins over Rush) and I saw that at the time, I was very defensive about who I liked musically. And hell even to this day, I'll argue about music - for example, about why Miley is better than ninety-nine percent of the other popstars out there. Of course now I try to be more open-minded, but I'll tell you, even at SP there were some people (mainly Britney fans) who really peed me off with their comments.

Damn, I feel like a concert virgin after those lists.
2002 - Bon Jovi
2003 - Delirious (a Christian rock band who supported Bon Jovi - their secular music was pretty good)
2005 - James Blunt
2009 - Franz Ferdinand
And that is it

I know the feeling. I was blasted back in '78 and '79 for being a KISS fan when being a Nugent and Aerosmith fan was more acceptable (being as i was a fan of those two also).

Huh. Apparently I'm going to see Rush in two weeks. Until yesterday, I didn't even know they were touring, and a few minutes ago I was able to purchase and print the tickets. :geek:

Let us know how it is. They were in Minneapolis two weekends ago at the Minnesota State Fair. Review here. KISS was last weekend there at the fair.
They're playing the whole Moving Pictures album on this tour.

Yup, I know. In fact, I know their entire setlist because everyone kept posting the songs at the Ticketmaster website.TexasBlue wrote:They're playing the whole Moving Pictures album on this tour.
Still, it will be cool hearing "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight" live.

Rush - September 25, 2010 - Houston
I willl try to give a review soon, but it's barely been twelve hours since the show ended and my brain still hasn't completely processed what happened.
I will say this though : Neil Peart is GOD!

OK, now have any of you guys been to any concerts headlined by artists not currently eligible for social security?

Yes I have... in fact, all the artists that have headlined the shows I've been to are now dead, making them ineligible for social security...

I have a rule about discovering new music : the artist has to be no more than 25 (and preferably cute).
